No sooner than we got back to Beez from our tour yesterday than the clouds dropped and did it rain. Overnight the wind was a steady twenty four knots. This morning Bear got up and surveyed his kingdom. Let’s move to the next big bay and if it’s still blowing a Hooley we’ll go round to the leeward side of the island. Aye, aye captain. Off we went at eleven, well not quite as easy as it sounds. I had to power forward and try to keep Beez nose in the direction of the anchor chain. Gusts to thirty knots made this a bit of a challenge to say the least. Bear always washes the mud off the chain as it comes up and the wind happily lifted his spray over me, mud and all. Mmmm.

As we rounded the corner at the exit of the bay, things did brighten up a little and the wind settled to around eighteen knots. More clouds appeared and I did not approve of where the skipper had hoisted Baby Beez. I wont do it again, it was just a test. Thank you. You’re most welcome........

We head out to the motus. Hopefully to snorkel if the sun comes out.

We attempted to anchor by a very pretty motu, only to find the wind is a bashing twenty six knots.

We went through the skinny bit.

Coral clearly visible but the channel was well marked.

We snuck out toward the hotel on stilts and found the wind to be just as bad.

We tried the main goods port.

We tried out by Tehotu Island, the last in a line of beautiful motus. Sand three feet below us.

The wind gusts were in excess of thirty knots now, nothing for it but to weave our way out between the coral heads and on our way once again.

Then we tried the bay beside Patio. Deep and windy, nothing for it but to head further round to Hurepiti. OK.

Along the top coast things got quite rough.

Very lovely, though.

Back in this particular cul-de-sac, I’m very pleased to announce that Bear has now completed his circum-what-sit of Tahaa. Well thank you.
