As the Song says – What a difference a day makes, twenty four little hours

All calm and quiet in Rikitea Anchorage.

The difference between this picture and the one on yesterdays blog is more than extreme. Twenty four hours has seen the wind drop to zero - instead of trying to sleep with the howling noise all night, we had deathly silence until the cockerels gave it welly from four o’clock. The sea beyond the reef has clearly had Mrs Woo in action on her ironing board all night.

The supply ship has made it in today and the shops will be full to brimming tomorrow.

Beyond the little jetty opposite Beez is the bakery, we could actually smell his bread baking this morning for the first time in three weeks.

The cathedral visible too.

Bear is just getting the final weather report before we up and off, seven hundred and seven miles to Ravavae Island. There is the old saying “Sail south until the butter melts”. The new one for us is “Sail north until it feels hot once more”. The original plan was to go to Rapa but that is another three hundred miles south, so sadly, with the weather as it is, we have to give it a miss – maybe next time..........

ALL IN ALL DEFINITELY OFF THIS TIME
