Off Porto,Portugal. Hot, sunny, large but gentle swell. Cruising Chute taking us along at steady 7 knots.Mr Frog on the barometer has his sun glasses back on and is gurning like an idiot. That's enough of the technical doo dah.
Steve and Ian made a big thing of crossing the non existent sea border from Spain to Portugal by blowing an obscene semi military sounding noise on the foghorn whilst lowering what we presume was the Spanish flag, and raising even more dubiously what we guess might just possibly be the Portugese flag, but I have a feeling it's Afghani or Iraqi.
As usual, C Dundee was flaked in his cabin, when Jill GB served up a burger mince substance she had purchased at the early morning Bayona market. I was sunbathing forward of the mast when what can only be described as Red Rum in a Bun arrived in silver foil. I thanked the good woman profusely and lobbed it over the side. Within minutes a flock of sea gull had arrived followed by a triangular dorsal fin. Mark shouted shark...it shot along the surface, headed behind the yacht and disappeared. It's probably along with tweety, lying on its back chucking down alka selzer somewhere bemoaning Jill's visit to the market. The girls had been loudly discussing jumping in for a swim, and I suggested that this might be a good time to give it a go. Shurrrup, yer muss be jokin....wafted back. Seems they had also seen Mr Shark. A a certain person on board was able to identify it as a Mako Shark. I was truly awed and asked how he knew. I was married to one he answered.
Anyway, it has been a day when all aboard have chilled in the sun: autohelm doing the work, and deep philosophical discussions taking place on the true underlying meaning of Fifty Shades and the use of the word Vanilla. Even more relevant as after dinner I will be attempting to re-assemble the ice-cream maker into some post-storm form of usefulness. I have located more deep frozen Amber Apple Crumble from the freezer and will be indulging when the firemen all goon their shout after dark. Becca and I will be doing the second half of Lord of the Rings, or Gollum goes Glowing later on the ship's tv. As we go into the evening C Dundee is cooking something with Garlic in..Garlic Bread and spaghetti bolognaise. .I am frantically trying to find what remains of our wine cellar, and Gibraltar looms ever nearer.
