I have been rather lapse in recent weeks so in case anybody is wondering
where we are hello from just north of NZ. We have just under 100 miles to
go and hope to be in Opua around midnight on Friday (tonight for us). We have sailed right
into the middle of a big fat high (BFH) giving us beautiful clear blue skies
but not a breath of wind so are now motoring towards the Land of the Long
White Cloud. Motoring may be dull (and expensive!) but no wind is better
than the opposite around here and we heard on the SSB last night that
friends just 600 miles behind us on the same passage are bashing into gale
force headwinds. The Tall Ships Race is meant to be arriving from Sydney
today as well which should be spectacular (except they are probably drifting
around in circles out here somewhere too). We had the first sighting of Lucy's
beanie last night so I know we are still heading in the right direction and
the chef has been serving out some great breakfasts before those pesky NZ
biosecurity folks steal all our eggs and bacon.
