The night passed uneventfully with few other ships around and those that were mainly carrying cargo with a few passenger ships too.

We went through the UTC or Grenwich Meridian where Eastings counted down to 0 and Westings began. This happened at around 2.55am.

The seas became heavier as the night passed with waves slapping loudly on our hull periodically. We saw an orange flash in the sky at around 3am but it was not a flare - no explanation of what it was.

Overall we've made good steady progress. We turned slightly in towards land to get some shelter from the swell and to optimise the wind angle.

We passed the busy port of Cartagena and are off Aguilas at the moment heading down the coast.

We've seen a large American naval warship in the area who announced on the radio their coordinates - warning other ships in the area to keep clear as they were going to do some firing practice! Shortly after their announcement another vessel enquired on the radio if they could see him close on their port side and asked what firing they were intending to do with a slightly worried tone. A reply followed quickly that the firing exercise was now over!

We've got 210nm to go to Gibraltar now and expect to arrive early hours on Friday subject to weather. It's a lovely afternoon here, the sun is shining, there is a swell but not too bad.

No birds have used us as a staging post yet today so bread and water supplies have been conserved! No Dolphins, Whales or porpoises either, maybe because we are a lot closer in to the coast.

Everyone is fine and enjoying the voyage.

Best regards,

David
