Hi All
There was no blog on Monday - not because we sank, but because it was too late by the time we sorted everything out! Sorry!

So here is Tuesday’s blog…
Alexander and Josh arrived (minus Zander’s bag - a bit of a Cap Verde airline theme here?) late at night and it took a while to get everything sorted out, gear on board, sleeping arrangements sorted and catching up on gossip.

Tuesday morning was an early start for me as I had to visit a local school (more on that later) and everyone else got on with fixing urgent last minute stuff - we now have working freezer (after Miguel taught the local expert how to fix it) and the last few bolts on genoa pole track was drilled and screwed into place.
Dave and Josh went shopping while Andy P, Zander and Miguel was he and tidied the yacht - Zander discovered that the best way to pick up sharp bits of aluminium from drilling the track, is with your bare feet!
The skipper’s briefing was at 17.00 and after all the admin stuff we got the weather forecast which is for light ESE winds and moderate swell for the first few days - good to settle in the new crew and try the parasailor.

About the school….we went on a half day tour of the island (see nice hill view and nice but windy beach) and I happened to mention to our guide that we had some school materials as a gift for the local schools (they have very little money) and I asked him if he knew how to donate it. That is how we ended up meeting Arlindo Diaz Marais (the principal of a local (pink) primary school - in the check shirt- and a harassed looking teacher) and setting up a little charitable link and twinning with Ysgol Pen-Y-Bryn the primary school that Tabitha Sawyer (Andy Sawyer’s) wife is deputy principal of ….the kids were great, starting by being very shy but soon getting cheeky when told they would be on our blog and website!

Tomorrow at 13.00 is when it all starts, so more news after we get going!

Hi All
Still in Cap Verde on this remembrance Sunday!
We all wore our poppies while hanging around (see photo) and then had lunch at an Italian restaurant (recommended by our neighbours on the yacht next door - but it did not meet the rigorous standards set by the crew - i.e the beer was in small bottles - un catastrophe!
Incidentally, my crew appointed me as honorary admiral of the Cap Verde fleet (with hat!)

Discovered an interesting palm tree with an aerial on top (can you spot it?)

Spend the rest of the day fixing the genoa track, freezer, door catches, batteries and wiring stuff, etc….as Andy said “this going round the world is basically fixing your boat in
exotic and expensive locations”.

We will aim for an early night as lots of work to do tomorrow to finish stuff off before the two remaining crew members show up and of course the city tour in the afternoon.
Lovely sunset too...

Cheers
