Hi Folks,

OK we're up to date now and are currently in Bora Bora. Was not necessarily
expecting a lot as most opinions suggested that Bora Bora was overstated and
mainly focused on up-market tourists.. Well that may be the case for those
staying in the upper class chain hotels, but far from what we have
experienced here!

Sail from Raiatea on was just a short hop (25 miles), for which we left
Raiatea via the western pass - a fairly narrow channel with a massive surge
- waves spaced 100m apart and probably 5m crests, so powered through the
channel and out into the open sea, for which the swell continues for several
miles.

Got to Bora Bora at nightfall, so had to navigate through the coral channel
into the inner island by sight and find a suitable mooring buoy, for which
we were nicely assisted by the crew of Pandemonium - thanks guys.

Looking around Bora Bora IS beautiful, crystal clear turquoise blue waters
surrounding a reef bound island. Had some great shots from high up on the
hill, but appear to have lost a load of piccy's on our camera, so only have
a few to post, soz.

Events here have included:
a) 4x4 adventure with Amilie (Debbie, Steve, Jaz) and driver Jos - great
time in the hill side and such a funny guy. Saw the cannons which were left
by the Americans when they used Bora Bora as a pacific base, saw views out
to the Motu's surrounding the island, went to a Pearl farm (no we didn't
bother buying) and ended up at Bloody Mary's for a lunchtime beverage -
apparently a famous place??
b) Various impromptu parties at the MaiKai restaurant/bar with crew and
owners from most other Oysters
c) Oyster party at Bloody Mary's - a very special evening with an amazing
atmosphere that everyone chilled into. The flush in the urinal in the men's
toilet was in the shape of an enormous penus, so just had to get the girls
in for a look - drummer in the band kept giving me funny looks though - I'm
sure he thought I was having great success with the ladies!
d) Some of the lad managed to climb to the top of the mountain - amazing
considering the profile & some super pictures from the top
e) Last night in the MaiKai having a meal with Spent and Amilie and getting
to know a local girl with a great voice singing loads of songs and us
murdering them

OK have now provisioned up for our next 8-10 day sail to Tonga, including
losing a day through crossing the international date line - better put a
bottle of bubbly in the fridge ready!

Will update when we're on our way

Love
