Ayesha II

"Storming along" through the middle of the Caribbean Sea.
Last night and this morning VERY rolly (white horses in our cornflakes!), a couple of nasty but brief squalls yesterday where we saw 41 knots of wind and very heavy rain.
We are running a watch system of during the day 2 hours on 5 hours off and then at night 2 persons up in cockpit at all times, all managing to get some good rest throughout now that we are getting used to the sea state and life aboard.
Today the wind has been consistently low 20's gusting 25/26 and the sea state has improved (longer gaps between waves), Ayesha is surfing the waves with wind up behind us, constantly performing at over 9 knots (trust me those of you who do not sail this is quick!) and frequently over 10, with highest speed seen 10.9!
We are sailing a course using the services of a weather routing guy who literally tailors a bespoke weather forecast and route suggestions for our route/speed/sailing performance and preference, it is the same person we use on a daily basis out here and we have found him to be very accurate. The coast at the top of South America is notorious for big seas and very strong winds particularly off Colombia hence our decision to be way out here and with conditions off Santa Marta currently "sustained wind speeds of 30 knots +" our change of destination to Red Frog Marina Panama.
All are well on board, Rachel and Josh have just prepared a mega salad for dinner (Note to Rachel's Mum - her salads are becoming legendary on Ayesha!) - hopefully we can keep it on our plates long enough to enjoy it!!
