We continued motoring down the sound for another hour or two and are now
tied up snugly in Torshavn and have cleared customs etc. Torshavn is buzzing
with young people sitting in cafes etc, rather akin to the Ny Havn in Copenhagen
– the Faeroes are really part of Denmark and it shows.
It’s now late evening and the promised gale has not arrived – not even a
zephyr – but nonetheless the current plan is to stay here until early Friday
when it should have passed. Some photos of our trip across from Iceland:
Dawn landfall
A new courtesy flag
800’ cliffs at the north end of the archipelago
The trolls Wife ‘s Finger
Bird cliffs. Only Fulmars left now.
Sunbathing – Faeroe style
A view of Torshavn harbour from our stern
Old town houses
All with grass roofs – we even saw one being re-turved (no employment for
thatchers here!)
