The seas have now gone down as much as we can expect them to after the gale. It’s still quite bouncy out here though. We can no longer hear our neighbouring boat, Indigo. They are travelling faster than we are; but we hope to be into Faial only a few hours after they arrive. We have a date to meet them in the sailor’s cafe known as “ Peter’s”.

Our arrival will probably be around Friday or maybe Saturday - depending how light the wind falls. At the moment there is no sign of it falling light and we are making the best of the favourable NW wind.. We have just under 500 miles to go and are making a cracking 7.5 knots on port tack having gybed last night just after dark as the cold front came through. The wind is scheduled to back further from north west to north by this evening. It’s also set to decrease to about F3 hence arrival time depends on how we make miles under those lighter conditions. But we need to air and dry out things so any period of fine weather will be useful. But a new gale is expected around Sunday, so we’d rather be in port by then.

The fresh fruit is lasting well but we are down to the last of the yoghurt and vegetables. Salad for lunch today will be a “surprise” of the stuff we have in store. We still have beer left and will be raising a glass to Lindi Holmes for her birthday tomorrow. Hopefully we will be in port for Tom and Katie’s birthdays.
