The sail from St Lucia to Bequia took eight and a half hours and more than half of this is between the islands so we experienced uninterrupted Atlantic swells , so was the first test of Oliver’s seasickness. We chose a relatively good weather for this trip but this still means 15-20 knots gusting to 25 knots and 1-1.5 metre swells. Oliver did very well – he didn’t complain at all, even after his fifth session of vomiting!! Lynn felt pretty bad so spent most of the  lying in the bunk next to Oliver. Wendy wasn’t sick but spent 2 hours asleep as she was tired. Chris and Shaun enjoyed a fairly straightforward sail, when Shaun wasn’t tending to Oliver or playing with him whilst Lynn groaned next to him. There were great views of the Pitons and rain squalls over St Lucia as they disappeared behind us and St Vincent very gradually grew larger. We then sailed down the sheltered east coast of St Vincent before another shorter one hour inter-island crossing with not too much swell (but another bout of vomiting from Oliver) to Bequia.
Everyone was relieved when we entered the bay at Bequia and tied to a mooring buoy as the holding for the anchor is a bit variable and we wanted an easy and to the day. This was a good choice as there were a few squalls overnight and a couple of nearby yachts dragged their anchors. After checking in to customs and immigration at about 1800, and getting an ice cream as a reward for Oliver being so brave, we were soon back aboard for dinner and an early night.
