Shaun and I are in Lanzarote at Puerto Calero doing lots of boat work while waiting for the family to arrive in a weeks time.

The rest of the crew have left and the next crew will join us the week before the ARC leaves (on 20th November).

Apart from lots of little jobs and a lot of cleaning up, we have removed all the windows and are renovating them as they have been leaking for too long. This is a big undertaking and it has taken me almost a day of work to clean up and strip all the old sealant out of EACH window – and there are five. We have the assistance of a good local boat maintenance/engineering company run by a German ex-pat.

Also we need to fix problems with the freshwater system, the shower, the diesel generator, anchor fittings, wind generator, ……and more and service the main engine – so we are constantly busy. And we are fitting a new fridge compressor and plates when they arrive here from Germany – hopefully next week.

It is a bit touch and go whether we can finish everything and relocate to our preferred marina further down the coast (and nearer to a main town, beaches, swimming pool etc) by the end of next week when Lynn, Oliver and Wendy arrive.

Picture of the marina location.
