What a difference a bit of wind in the right direction makes! Our Noon-to-noon run was 175 miles, the best for this passage by far, and all in the right direction. The wind has stayed in the SSW and remained at 12-18kts throughout most of the night, but it continued to rise through late morning and is now 22 to 25, gusting up to 30kts, so the sea has come up too and is now a nasty short rough sea. It's not big, with a big swell, just short and very lumpy, with white horses all around. So not pleasant. However the sun is still shining and there's barely a cloud in the sky. Talking of the sun, we had a perfect sunrise this morning. Again, not a cloud in the sky as the sun slowly came up from the horizon. The nights are pretty good too as the moon is heading towards a full moon and is up most of the night, so it really is very bright at night and you don't need a torch. Over the last 24 hours we've averaged over 7kts, but with the stronger winds and bigger sea we've reefed down to bring the speed down to 6 to 6.5kts - much more comfortable.
