Sending this from the highest point on Lizard Island (1,248ft), called Cook's Lookout as this is where Cook climbed up to try and spot a pass through the outer reefs to get his ship out to sea and back to England. As one of the guidebooks put it, if he had failed, the chances are high that Australians would now all be talking French! We had to follow in his footsteps to send this as the Internet signal here is poor and the only way to be sure of getting a signal is to climb to the highest point! The views of the outer reefs are great and you can clearly see the pass through the reef that he saw and that's now called Cook's Passage on the charts.
