We lifted the anchor at about 10:00, set the genoa and had a blustery and speedy ride down north westwards along the coast towards Diamond Rock - made famous by the Royal Navy who commissioned t as HMS Diamond and set up guns there to annoy the French. Effectively. The story goes that the only way the French managed to get it back was to fill boats with casks of rum and set them adrift to land on the rock. Whilst the British sailors were drunk they managed to defeat the defences and recapture it......a good story

We rounded the corner into calmer waters and more protected winds - although still gusty off the hills - sailed past some possible future anchorages and eventually dropped anchor in Anse Mitan. We had looked at going into the small marina there bu we were uncertain of turning room and depth and as winds were a solid 25 knits plus decided that anchoring was the more seamanlike option

It turned out that the only place LindaT had ever been to on Martinique was here! From a cruise ship that also happened to be there at the same time

A quick run ashore resulted in more shopping in the small town supporting the busy beach
