A record overnight run added to an excellent sailing day has given us another 140+ mile day today. It was Chris's Mother's birthday - a sprightly 95 and we attempted a satphone call but was unsuccessful as we got through but she could not hear us. There was a Happy Birthday email as well - and that did get through....we will celebrate properly on our return.

For a second day in a row we have not seen another craft - not even on AIS - our automatic transponder system that can have a range of 40 plus miles. With the current full moon we sail through the night bathed in the light from dusk to dawn just with open ocean around us. As each watch changes there are different conversations and perspectives to discuss. It is rarely quiet and the biscuit tin is regularly raided with tea

Last night we celebrated 'halfway there' with a bottle of bubbles and tonight we had the first of the crew's 'desert island discs' that will be heard over the forthcoming evenings before supper. Will produced a thought provoking and original selection that were delivered with anecdotes and fascinating stories. He has set the bar high for everyone else

Tomorrow? more of the same we think. That's tradewind sailing...........
