It would seem that we have now picked up the trade winds - today and for the next couple of days it is predicted that we will have NE winds 10-15 knots. Whilst we are still sailing in a southerly direction we have gybed (changed the side of the boat that most of the sails are on) and are making a more south westerly course than we were overnight. Overnight was very rolly in a confused sea with a northerly swell and we struggled to sleep in between watches. During the day today we have rigged ourselves better for this direction of sailing - a poled out large and small sail on each side with a small 'main' (trysail) to try dampen the rolling. This seems to have helped. We will not be setting any passage records but it is a safe set up for overnight as well as the day and is quite comfortable. Average speed is now 6.5 knots - a big improvement on our first week

Overnight we 'caught' three flying fish that were found dead on deck this morning - they are rather fine looking fish but alas are too boney to be eaten so they were returned to King Neptune with due ceremony. Evidently they hurt a lot if they hit you as they fly across the deck.......

Katie produced a delicious home/boat made pizza for lunch - mixing the dough and creating the topping from canned and fresh ingredients. No complaints on the cuisine being offered on this cruise! On tonight's menu we have flambéed bananas - in Berry's own fine Caribbean rum - well we don't need to take coals to Newcastle and the bananas are starting to ripen......

Following last night's poor sleep and magnificent luncheon this afternoon has seen a lot of snoozing as we settle into our long westerly journey
