We left Lagos at 08:30 as planned and set up for a
gentle reaching sail away from the coast. As the wind started to build we
decided to put away the new reaching sail and change to the genoa - but the cars
on the reacher roller decided to break so we now do not have that sail to play
with when we eventually get the expected wind shift and run downwind. We have
had a fun day with the sails gradually reducing them until we are now with a
reefed genoa in a quartering sea and 25-30 knots of wind. We have just had a
delicious supper and are preparing for nightfall and all in good spirits. Will
hopefully update in the morning. 464 miles to go
