Spent one night in Ayemonte to replenish water and get fresh food before motoring up the river to Alcoutim on Wednesday. We found a suitable anchorage and went ashore for beers followed by a walk to the swimming river for a refreshing dip!

We enjoyed meeting up with Frederick and Steffi the Dutch couple on Wildeman whom we met a month ago on our first visit.

Had an interesting morning on Saturday at the local market ( 3 stalls – meat, fish, fruit/vegetables) where we met several more British folk  some on boats others with farms/fincas locally! On the advice of one local we bought a small half leg of lamb for Sunday lunch. We spent some time at the local bar hearing snippets of gossip and being given advice about the passage up to Pomarao as well as some good tips from one couple who always winter their boat in Seville – another of our destinations later this year. We actually had some rain overnight and had to put the sides onto the Biminis! Generally enjoyed our 4 nights  at anchor and made use of the generator to keep the battery topped up.

Plan to head up river on Sunday for a couple of nights.
