We left Solenzara about 0800 and had an interesting motor sail north up the coast. A usual the wind was all over the place we managed to use the jib for a while as we had a good land breeze from the SE but then we had a complete change of wind to NE 6!! The scenery along the coast is lovely and we saw through the binoculars several good sandy beaches and bays backed by the craggy mountains.

Port Taverna has a very shallow entrance which suffers from silting, we entered very cautiously with the marinero in a rib leading us in. We were soon tied up and went for an explore. The toilets were fine but yet again the showers were charged extra so we used the boat facilities. However there was a very good laundry with a big machine so that was put to good use during our stay. The best bit about this marina was the super bar/ cafe La Flib (Flibistier) where Jacky had delicious coffee and croissant for breakfast and in the evening dinner on the boat was followed by very wicked Ice-cream sundae on tow evenings! The best one was the Irish Coffee sundae.

The local town was some 4 kilometres away so we didn't visit and having spoken to other local boat owners we found out that the only practical way to get to the airport was by hire car as taxi were very expensive. Either side of the marina were long sandy stretches of beach a bit desolate and wind swept while we were there.

Next stop Bastia!
