San Vito Lo Capo

This holiday resort town was busy and had beautiful beaches but we found the harbour rather unsatisfactory. It was difficult to manoeuvre onto the designated pontoon due to very shallow water and while doing so we managed to get a very thick

Mooring line trapped in the bow thruster! It was blowing 20 knots and the mooring man had given us a berth that was head to wind which meant we had to use the engine to keep off the jetty as well as negotiate the shallow water ahead of us (it went down to 2m very quickly).

However once tied up we were ok and took some time to walk around the busy, bustling town where tourist shops and trattoria abounded. We enjoyed a lovely post supper ice cream followed by coffee in a bar that was next to the main square where a brass band was playing. This place would certainly make a good sandy beach holiday if that is what folk are looking for.

We had an early night as the weather seemed good for our long crossing to Sardinia the next day.
