Palermo 2

WE enjoyed our stay here and discovered some wonderful markets, ancient buildings and a great mixture of cultures which dated back to the middle ages and was reflected in many of the religious buildings. The cathedral had stunning Arabic sections and the mosaics in the various parts of the Palace Reale and in particular the Palatine Chapel’s were amazing – when you walk in there seemed to be walls of gold!

We had a good meal in La Cambusa – recommended on Trip Advisor, we all had the house special – rolled breast of rabbit with a stuffing of pistachio nuts served on a delicious soft bed of aubergine! It was delicious.

Our mooring was a bit rough and ready and it was quite difficult to get on and off the boat as we were on a high wall with a big chain to tie the lines to. This meant the passarel had to be landed onto a block of wood which was fine while the boat was still but the minute the wind blew the stern moved and so the wood block was in the wrong place!

We finally left on Sunday 3rd of May and had a smooth motor sail along the north coast to San Vito Lo Capo our final port in Sicily.
