Murter - Hramina Marina

Friday 5th – Monday 8th July

We had a brilliant sail from Sibenik to Murter with a double reef in the main and 1/3rd of the jib a fresh N.E wind which freed en route so we were on a close reach for at least a couple of hours. A fast point of sailing for us even with the reefs! The sea was flat the sun was shining and it was warm – what more could you ask for? Well we had some lovely scenery too with various small islands that we had to dip around and some interesting gusts of wind 27knots at times so we had to actually play the main sail and hand steer to boot! It reminded us of our racing days in Chichester! We eventually arrived off the marina at Murter where we anchored in amongst several other boats. However the wind was very fresh coming straight down into the harbour so there was no shelter and we were not happy so decided to go into the marina. We were soon all fast on Pontoon F close to all the facilities and boy were they good! Much to Jacky’s delight there was a super wide screen TV in the reception area where Wimbledon Tennis was being screened. The showers and toilet facilities were brilliant, there was a swimming beach 200 meters from the pontoon and the town was just a few minutes’ walk away with a large well stocked supermarket. Despite the 79 Euros a night we were happy (well Jacky was and Rob was resigned!) Jacky enjoyed watching the various tennis matches and especially the historic victory for Andy Murray on Sunday.

The marina office sells wifi vouchers and tickets for the Kornati Island National Park this year’s price is 250 K per day if bought in advance of entering the park.

We set off for the park on Monday morning.
