Today we not only said goodbye to the BV’s, but also to friends. This morning was a sad day as we waved goodbye to Brittany and her 3 girls in Nanny Cay. We will really, really miss them as we continue our journey- but I know that a friendship has been forged and that we will see them again!

It made me think of the other lovely people we have met since arriving in the Islands a month ago. When you meet a like minded cruiser, there is a bond of understanding between you- because it is a strange lifestyle when you think about it. You also have to be a little crazy………

It also made me think of our favourite spots here. I will list them in no particular order (purely for my benefit actually- this blog is a diary for us!!) Many of you will have strong opinions about these places, but do bear in mind that we have two small children- so our reasons for a great spot will be quite different to most other cruisers!!

Baths @ Virgin Gorda
North Sound, Virgin Gorda. Mosquito anchorage is v calm tucked in behind the reef. Its also v quiet.
White bay, Guana Island. Great beach, few boats, perfect beach for swimming with little ones.
Norman Island, the Bight. Beach, walks, fun bars and great snorkelling close by (Treasure Point and the Indians)
Diamond Cay. Sandy Spit and Sandy Cay. great spots for swimming off the boat, exploring etc.
Cane Garden Bay - Tortola. important to go on a non cruise ship day. Deserted beach, really good for swimming and sandcastle making!
Nanny Cay, Tortola. loved purely because we had Brittany and the girls to play with :-)

Because everything is so close in the BVI , in the last month we have not done any long passages. We are really looking forward to getting stuck into some serious miles when Uncle Michael arrives tomorrow. We definitely feel it is time for a ‘proper’ sail, So here goes!!
