Moskito Island (I have spelt it correctly) is a lovely anchorage. Tucked in behind the reef, the water is flat, and the colours of the water are absolutely breathtaking. Depth is about 5m on a sandy bottom.

This morning we were enjoying a post breakfast swim. Douglas suddenly started waving at me, and looked slightly concerned. I just knew there was something in the water….. argh! those of you who know me well, know that I am not the best person when it comes to sea creatures lurking around. I looked and saw him……… The largest Barracuda either of us have ever seen, very close indeed (close enough to see his teeth by the way..!) D quickly got the children out of the water and I personally have never moved so fast in my life as I was quite a way from the boat, with Barak Obama (that is what we have named him) in the way. This thing was well over a meter long, enormous. Once out of the water we felt brave enough to dip our heads in to have a closer look. I am sure he would have been very friendly but neither of us were willing to try. Sorry there are no pictures. We were all too fascinated watching him from the boat to remember to snap!!
