While the Gota was beautiful, it is lovely to be back with the (open-ish) sea, even if this one has no salt or tides.  Enjoyable though canals can be (and that one certainly was), Aquila always felt nervous at her loss of freedom therein. Being dependent for progress on the workings of land based infrastructure is an alien concept for her.

Nicky and Hugh helped us through the canal's final lock before departing in a taxi. With the boat then refuelled and watered, the mate and skipper alone whizzed down the Slatbacken fjord under a well-rolled genoa - the High that is giving UK a heatwave is also giving us consistently strong westerlies. We picked our way some 20 miles through the enchanting leads, and by 1430 had found a snug and tranquil anchorage. We believe zzzzs could be heard emanating from the cabin for the rest of the afternoon.... Well, Aquila said she'd earned some downtime.
