25 May. Proper breakfast! Thereafter chugged back down river to L’Aber Wrac’h for a dohby and final re-provisioning in anticipation of tomorrow’s big departure.
We were under sail again by 1230 bound for L’Aber Ildut. The skipper regaled us with his close encounter with Le Four light house while skippering his father’s pride and joy when in his early 20s. This was interspersed, for crew morale purposes, with as much of Albert and the Lion as the entire crew could jointly remember – while enjoying a scrumptious tea of Whinny the Poo chocolate biscuits, flap jacks and date cake, courtesy of Sarah and Rosalie. Your stock is, as ever, sky high girls!

On arrival at L’Aber Ildut, in marvellous sunshine, we were greeted by the harbourmaster whose first words were “don’t come back next year”. Charming. A quick run ashore revealed that his knowledge of the locale was simply wrong; or perhaps he simply lied to us? He had claimed that the nearest alimentation was a taxi ride away; but we found one on the jetty. Maybe he didn’t like the shop keeper either.
The plan now is a bite ashore, then an early turn-in in anticipation of tomorrow’s departure to commence the crossing of the Bay. So no further blogs now before our expected arrival at Coruna (or somewhere similar) probably sometime on Sunday if the met man is to be believed. And if we disappear without a trace….look for us in the Caribbean!
