Title: Baie Maa, New Caledonia > Coffs Harbour, Australia Day 3 (2014-11-29 01:00 UTC - 26:56.0S 156:40.2E - DTF 275 nm)

The higher winds have consistently outperformed the forecast by some 5kn at least, yesterday night winds up to 27kn, so time to furl the genoa and put the cutter sail to use. Hardly any loss of speed and more relaxed sailing, although the short, steep and confused waves make sleeping a challenge. Either this is what the Tasman Sea is known for, or we’re still in the bottom part of the Coral Sea and have to brace ourselves for what is about to come! Progress is good though, clocking 209 nm over 24 hrs. Still heading N of the rhumb line in anticipation of the wind backing to NE and the S current strengthening.

Salmon pasta for lunch, New Caledonian paté on freshly baked bread for dinner, a piece of home-made lemon cake with tea during the movie, who would guess we’re on a small boat in a big ocean being tossed around!
