Light winds and a calm seas for most of the day and the forecast promised similar winds for the night, so no reef in main, which we usually do at night to prevent having to reef in the dark. A choice we regretted when the wind picked up to some 23 kn and veered so much that we had to beat, significantly increasing the apparent wind. As it did not seem a passing squall, we put a reef in, which labour we enjoyed for half an hour until the wind dropped and backed again. Left the reef in, furled out the genoa, which is a quick job and does not require heading into the wind until the next bout of stronger wind. Up till now the wind remains quite variable in strength and direction. Averaging some 8kn SOG, which is fast enough to make our ETA on Monday 1/12.

Lamb roast for lunch, foie gras for dinner, but we still have a long way to go until the bottom of the freezer and fridge are in sight.
