We have arrived and I have just tried to send photos of our time in
Surwarrow but the internet here has a problem with sending downloads so
will have to wait until we reach Tonga. Had three days of sailing from
Surwarrow to Nuie with 30 - 40 knot winds, lively to say the least and
shipped quite a few large breaking waves, so much for our lovely easy
reach sailing here!
Have rented a car in Nuie and started exploring, it is independent but
under NZ protection. It is a high coral island that has raised out of the
sea three times, lots of forest where there was once a lagoon thousands of
years ago.
Lots of coral chasms to climb down and explore. It is the Whale migration
time and there is a Mother and Calf in the bay near the anchorage some of
those that dive have seen them, I expect we will see more.
The Nuie yacht club is small and great fun, it is good to be back with
some of the other BWR crowd. Will write more time to eat!
