NEW YORK DOWN THE EAST COAST TO DELAWARE CANAL TO ANNAPOLIS

Having left NY we sailed and motored down the East Coast, off Atlantic City we had a fuel feed problem so had to be towed in to the River off Atlantic City, a clean out of pipes and filters appeared to do the trick, we set off the next day towards the Delaware Canal. Photos show us passing under a raising railway bridge in the canal.  We anchored in the Sassafore River where a big lightening storm brewed up, one fork coming quite near the yacht, fortunately we were not struck. The last photo is Annapolis where we laid up the yacht for a few months whilst we went back to the UK to move into a small base, can’t really call it a home, but a place to come back to from our sailing travels.
Jonathan came back to the yacht at the beginning of November with friends Julien Bass, Donald Hughes and Hedley Saunders to do the ‘Salty Dawg’ rally to the Caribbean.  They were supposed to head for the BVIs but this was only a few weeks after two devastating hurricanes which hit the BVIs and wrecked it. The finish was changed to Antigua.  Jonathan returned for Christmas, a very good family one with one of our nephew’s and great nieces at their home in Surrey. We came back out to the yacht on January 7th.
