We arrived in Cuttyhunk having motor sailed through ‘Woods Hole’ passage, with a 4 knot tide.  Cuttyhunk is a small island with just a few holiday homes on and some residents houses as well as a couple of restaurants.  The bay as you approach is wide.  We dropped anchor just near the buoys guiding a passage in to the inner harbour.  The passage into the inner harbour is now dredged at 10’ minimum LWS according to the harbour master.  There is a lovely public beach along the side.   The place is a real ‘Swallows & Amazons’ area where children can run free with no real harm coming to them, most the the traffic are electric golf carts.  The only down side is that if you go for a proper hike you have to cover up as ticks are rife.  The school is in the bottom picture, the men used to go to the main land to work or out on boats fishing.  The women held fort and had to deal with everything thrown at them including the odd hurricane.  One of the electric carts in the picture below was being driven by an old hippy.  I am not sure what the two statues of the men were in the next photo they were situated outside one of the homely restaurants.  The hut with ‘Cuttyhunk’ on it is the Harbour Master’s office.  The lower photo shows the outer bay and inner harbour in the fog.
