When we arrived in the Tobago Cays we met up with both Dai and Augusto and also Caroline and Andrew on Askari. They had had dinner ashore the night before cooked by the families who run the fishing boats and outdoor cooking area.

We had them all on board Aqualuna for drinks and dinner of cold lobster, salad and new potatoes, Caroline brought along a lovely tropical fresh fruit salad. The next day Tina and I swam off the yacht, Jonathan was still feeling low and unable to swim because he was still recovering from shingles. As we swam away from the yacht snorkelling we saw a turtle grazing on the grass of the sea bed so we spent ages quietly following it watching it come up for air a few times and go back down to munch more grass. We also saw quite a few Box fish near the anchor chain on the sandy sea bed, as it scraped the sand the box fish fed off what ever was being exposed.

The following day it was lovely and calm so we took the dingy out to the outer reef to explore the coral and see more fish, sadly we didn’t see a Sting Ray this time.

We sailed on to Petit St. Vincent to do the beach walk and eat out a treat from Tina. The following morning we set sail for Bequia to check out of St. Vincent and the Grenadines before doing a straight all day sail to St. Lucia, it was a good sail and we arrived by lunch time to have a swim between the Pitons. We left soon after lunch to anchored in Marigot Bay where the following day Tina and I flopped on the lovely sun beds by the pool and accepted the complimentary fresh coconut drinks, amuse bouche of tuna in what appeared to be spicy avocado, and then after lunch another complimentary Rum punch, cold water was put on the tables between the sun loungers for us. Jonathan opted to stay on board as he is not very good at lounging by a pool, he prefers to potter on the yacht. At 5.30 pm it was time for Tina to get her taxi to the airport and head back to cold and breezy England.

The following morning Jonathan and I continued around to Rodney Bay, we spent the first two nights at anchor in the bay and met up with Alan Burge (Budgie) and Barbara plus their friends who had chartered a catamaran from Antiqua. We were invited on board for lunch which was fun and then in the evening we all went out for drinks and dinner. They left the following morning to head south to the Pitons. That night the anchorage became quite rolley, so we headed into the marina where we have been since cleaning the yacht of salt and cleaning below decks and doing the laundry. The laundry dried very quickly in the hot sun and brisk wind. As both Tina had a cold bug and Jonathan Shingles all the linen went on the hottest wash. I have disinfected everything, washed the floors, dusted and cleaned the stainless steel below decks Aqualuna now looks ship shape again.

About an hour after we arrived we were hailed by a passing yacht, an old Oyster called 'Oyster Cracker’, on board were Paul and Wendy Giles who own it,(An ex Hong Kong JSM work partner of Jonathan’s) plus they had a skipper called Ian from whom Jonathan and the Exe Sailing Club crowd had chartered a Beneteau back in 2008 for Antigua Week. Our Rack of Lamb went back in the fridge and we all went out for a good dinner at Spinnakers on the beach and a big catch up, which was huge fun.

Last night after a day of laundry and cleaning we had a quiet dinner aboard and flopped!!
