We now have Gill and Graham Lyne on board, (Jonathan’s brother and sister in law).  They joined us in Rodney Bay marina on Sunday evening having flown down from Canada.
Jonathan and I, having left the Drapers and my brother in Nevis to fly home, sailed via Monserrat one night spent there at anchor then set sail again early in the morning, the smell of the sulphur from the volcano is still strong two miles off.  Plymouth covered in ash with only the buildings on the edge showing, all very sad.  From Monserrat we sailed to Les Saintes where we went to dinner ashore, not as many people around as there once was.  We then sailed on to Martinique and dropped anchor in Fond Lattage for the night.  A short sail the following morning to anchor near the Marina in Marin where we met up with Chris and Diedre Waud and their friends for dinner.  They had just arrived and were chartering a Jeaunneu to sail north.  It was great to see them if only briefly.  We then set sail for Rodney Bay, just a two hour very good sail averaging 8.5 knots.  Cleaning inside and outside the yacht, laundry done, bunks made up.
The afternoon after Gill and Graham arrived we set sail for Marigot Bay and managed to anchor about 20 yards from the restaurant we had booked into, Rainforest Hideaway.  After a walk ashore, drinks on board we pottered across to the restaurant and a delicious very interesting dinner.  A restaurant we highly recommend.  Gentle jazz played by a very good band all evening.
This morning 26th January we have checked out and are setting sail for St. Vincent and hope to visit the gardens which have been written up about in the RHS The Garden last month, they are a bit like the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Great to be able to download a decent blog as the signals have been unbelievably week and so download a blog with photos has been difficult.
