DAY 15 ARC SUNDAY 6/12/2015

Sadly it looks as though we won’t beat our own time of 16 days in 2007 ARC in the 55’ Discovery. A few mishaps have occurred. Jonathan did an involuntary gybe (fortunately it was none of us!) sadly breaking the main traveller which he has done a temporary fix to, the sheet must have caught in a hatch latch above the aft cabin as that has disappeared. The forward pump out for the shower is not working, at least it is but there appears to be a blockage from the pump to the outlet so that has to be sorted. We can see the Halberg Rassy ‘Bluewater Mooney’ down two miles on our port side and she is flying a spinnaker we really need to beat her by 40 miles over the finish line to win it just does not look as though that is going to happen in the next 30 hours. We are goose winged with staysail, genoa and main up and averaging 8 -9 knots but are unable to carry the Asymmetric with the wind directly behind us.
We also still have the port spinnaker sheet around our prop which we can do nothing about until we arrive in Rodney Bay.
So it is all a bit of a B……. day. But other than that we are having a brilliant time!!!
