HONG KONG OLD FRIEND’S REUNION OF EARLY 1980’S RHKYC RACING CROWD AND MOTHER’S BABY GROUP
4th September,2015

Diana and Dieter Sellmeyer and Sam and Gilly McBride joined us in Bodrum.  The following day after going to the market for food and the boys to the supermarket for drinks, we set off south to
where Jo and Simon Davies and Mike and Debbie Gray were chartering a Jeanneau.  We spent the first night in a bay called Palumut which was full of holiday houses.  We moved on the following morning to Marti Marina to meet up with the Grays and Davies. Whilst we were waiting for them we went ashore, it is a very pleasant marina at the end of a long inlet.  Late afternoon we all set sail in our respective yachts two miles across the bay to a restaurant.  It was really good and VERY upmarket at the Bencik Hotel and ate at a very good restaurant on the beach (imported white sand) at Il Riccio, the food and setting was divine.  Sadly Mike was worried about his anchorage and the fact he did not have much chain to the charter yacht so decided to stay on board to keep an eye on it. The hotel’s boat boy came past the next morning offering us a basket of fresh bread of various sorts ‘on the house’.  We also had a vegetable boat call on us but we were already had enough vegetables.  We swam around the near by rocks before breakfast.  Later we moved on to Kocabache for lunch on board our yacht.  Lots of pre lunch swimming and I managed to give Gilly paddle board lessons, she stood up and did well. Loads of fun had and lots of catch up chatting.  Lunch on board of Figs, parma ham, lettuce mixed with pomegranate seeds and walnuts, cheeses of various sorts and some delicious Lynx wine from Dieter’s vineyard in South Africa.  Below is a photo of my herb and spice drawer made with IKEA spice racks cut down by Discovery for the drawer and another photo of everybody on board Aqualuna pre lunch.  We managed to get ten of us sitting comfortably in the cockpit around the table with the use of two aluminium stools.
