The ARC programme has now finished which feels a
bit sad but we have made new friends and hope to meet up with some of them on
our travels.
Lizzie arrives today, hurrah. Yesterday Gatwick
was shut again by snow and all flights were cancelled. With it being such
a busy time of year it could have been Christmas before she arrived.
Luckily the runway is open again now. The flight is taking off a little
late as they are having to de-ice the plane! She is bringing a lot of
luggage including the new hot water cylinder.
Poor Chris has now left for home, defeated by the
Atlantic Ocean. Even after 3 weeks he didn't manage to get his sea
legs. Furthermore he didn't like the heat so spent most of his time down
below in the cabin. The weather in England suits him better. A
shame as he was so keen to do the trip and asked us if he could come as soon as
he knew we were doing it. Rumour has it he may take up golf instead!
Now our guest has gone we are concentrating on cleaning the boat and the mundane
chores.
Roger is really enjoying himself and has been a
very useful and active crew member.
Last night we met Ruth who is the fiancee of Phil on
Andromeda of Plymouth. She had a text to say that they have been
dismasted. Luckily they are well but have diverted to Tobago. Poor
things, they have had a lot of bad luck.
We are joining the Ocean Cruising Club as we are now
eligible having done over 1000 miles at sea. They hold a lot of rallies
which we hope to join in with. We also now have the sea time for
RYA Yachtmaster Ocean; Andrew as skipper, Celia as of mate of
watch.
We went zip lining on Thursday. Terrifying but
great fun. We got a tour of the island on the way and a really good guide
who gave us a lot of information. Then it was back for yet another
party! Have to say we didnt stay long at that one!
We have had a lot of rain the last couple of days but in
between times the sun comes out and it is still really hot. Celia took a
bus trip into Castries the capital with Liz (Caduceus) and Sue (Sulana) where
they spent several hours in the markets Christmas shopping!!
