Arrived safely into Hobart at 430pm on 20th December just in time for Friday night beers at Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania.
A Wonderful Christmas meal thanks to the BBQ at the RYCT and the staff allowing us to use it.
The lovely Giulia arrived on Boxing Day, so extended family now at 6.

The next 3 weeks were spent eating drinking, Sydney Hobart Yacht spotting and researching the best coffee and bakeries in Hobart, not a job for the faint hearted.

Mike had some excitement when he had to deal with a runaway engine. It seems the oil seals on the turbo had failed which allowed engine oil directly into the fuel supply (hot air driven). At 5000 RPM, amidst smoke and a roaring engine, he was able to get into the engine space to turn the fuel off. Thankfully I wasn't there or I'd still be a quivering mess. Funny to think we have sailed nearly 13,000 miles and this was one of the scarier experiences. The RYCT had to close the gate to the marina, due to their concern about all the smoke.

Luckily we found a brilliant marine engineer in Hobart who solved problem with sympathy, humour and perseverance. Thanks Kerry Williams.

Managed to get up to Strahan to see Hell's Gate and had some shorter day trips on more sensible roads to see Hobarts MONA and Forestier and Tasman Peninsulas.

Enjoyed the company of new friends from WA on Solitaire, new Tasmanian and Canadian friends and ex-Clough friends who were visiting.

Tasmanians are so very proud of their origins and rightly so. It is truly a magical place

Very sad to leave but grateful for the experience.
