It is a bittersweet time of goodbyes and fond farewells. The winds have settled down and the seas seem favorable for a trip into Exuma Sound. With any luck we will land a few mahi as we meander north through the beautiful Exuma Cays.
A picnic on the beach was called, so we loaded up the dinghy with seats, towels, lunch and cooler and drove to the Flip Flop Shop Beach. A shelter is maintained each year by cruisers with benches, palm frond roof, floats, and of course, flip flops found along the shore. We started with a rousing water game of Soak Ball and all 8 picnickers joined in. Cooled off, we sat in the shade, enjoying light snacks and great conversations. Lunch was next. Before we knew it it was 5:30 pm and time to head to our floating homes. We wished each other fair winds and calm seas. It was a special time since we would not see each other again til our next trip to Exuma.
Aboard Amber Isle, we rinsed cushions, swimsuits, the dink. We hoisted it into its cradle and brought up the fishing poles and tackle. Packing and unpacking is the big job.
We set up the BBQ grill on the cockpit and grilled another of our New York strip steaks. It would be an early night for us. We looked forward to tomorrow. It was both a sad and a happy time.
