We went for a sail to do some recalibration of the B&G nav instruments, and successfully corrected a slight error in the wind readout. It had always seemed like we could go closer to the wind on the starboard tack, and I wondered whether we needed to shift some ballast over, but it was just an illusion caused by a calibration error. Once it was corrected we had a perfectly balanced boat.

We had a peep into the next anchorage, which was a small horseshoe cove. It looked lovely, with clear blue water, but it was very crowded. In the strong winds it had clearly been a bolt hole for a lot of yachts and they would not be moving today.

We were happy to enjoy the wind, still well over 20 knots, and sail back into the wide Sant Amanza bay, anchoring in a different corner and popping ashore for our first beer in Corsica. It felt good to be greeted in french. At last I could understand what was being said, and could speak to people instead of relying on the power of mime. There is a large lagoon behind the beach, where we took a walk to stretch our legs. With the onshore wind the water was flowing "uphill" into the lagoon from the sea.
