A trip of about 55 miles took us from Cascais to Sines, which had a pretty good write up in the pilot book.

The day started early, for us, at 07:15. Dolphins came to keep us company for a while.

We motored while we had breakfast, but were sailing before lunch time off 8 to 10 knots.

Excitement at 14:00 as we saw a shark on the port beam. Avery different attitude in the water to the dolphins, and a differentdorsal fin. A flick of its tail and it was off like a torpedo.

After a nice steady sail we arrived at around 6:00. The fuel pontoon was closed and thr marina did not look great, so we anchored off the beach.

Sines is a bit of a scruffy townt, with a concrete wall behind the beach covered in graffiti. But the beach in a horseshoe bay is very nice, with an oil refinery off to the North and a commercial port off to the South.

When we went ashore, just rowing, we found that there ws some sort of music and food festival underway. We ate from the food stalls. J thought she had asked for a couple of portions of chips, but after a wait of more than 30 mins, it turned out that she had asked for fried fish.

We paddled back and so to bed.
