Light winds and the newly tuned rig is a great improvement, with 5 kn of 6 kn of wind and the sails setting perfectly.

Once again I am determined to sail rather than motor, but eventually capitulate as mutiny threatens and after drifting round the Cabo di Gata we motor into the anchorage at San Pedro, rather than deal with the slight winds that are right on the nose of our intended track.

This is just about the only small fold in the coastline that offers protection from the east, and there are a few other yachts in the anchorage. The bay seems to have been adopted as a hippy commune of some sort. There are tents on the beach and solar panels on the ruined castle-like old mine. Bongos and chanting complete the picture along with some nudity, including a couple of the yachtsmen in the bay, which startled L as she was scanning with the binoculars on the way in.

Anchor ball up, and dedicated to James, before we rig a light for our first evening meal in the cockpit, which is surprising as we have had more than 6 weeks on board.

The anchorage is very steep and rocky, and atmospheric. We are glad that we stopped.
