We left Valencia about 10:15am motoring at first but within an hour or so, the wind picked up, for once in our favour, and we had a wonderful day under sail, with clear blue skies and a beautiful blue sea. The temperature on land was about 32oC, so very comfortable for us at sea with the easterly breeze.

We arrived in Oropesa de Mar at 6:15 pm. It's hard to think of it as a marina although the books would have you believe it is one. In reality it's a very "one horse town" kind of place. Almost all of the boats are small fishing type motor boats, just a few small sail boats and a very high harbour wall with a tiny narrow and shallow entrance, we couldn't avoid scraping the bottom as we came in. There are a couple of bars on the pier and we believe we've found Spain's grumpiest bar owner in the one we chose to visit; we didn't stay long!

The town looks to be about a thirty minute walk away, but we've decided not to bother visiting, there's nothing of note here and we plan to leave as soon as the household chores are done. As it's another beautiful sunny day, we are hoping the wind will come in, as it did yesterday and we'll be able to sail.

We are now counting down in hours as we're due to arrive in Sant Carles on either the 23rd or 24th and we are both trying to make the mental adjustment of what comes next, but wondering if we can squeeze in another stop before then?
