Arrived in Martinique today, just 20 miles north of St Lucia. The language is now French not English, the currency is the Euro not the Eastern Caribbean Dollar, the supermarkets sell French wine, Frances's phone calls are included in her tariff, there is a Boulangerie and a Patisserie.....what more could you want? Completely different feel and culture to St Lucia yet we can still see St Lucia. Must be like living in Dover!

We have already spotted a yacht belonging to a French couple that we met in Canet in France; we called in but they weren't home. We have also seen a couple of rally yachts who like us are now setting off on their own to explore the Caribbean.  We are here for a few days before heading south to St Vincent and the Grenadines on the 21st.

We had to go into the marina to check into France and we have never seen as many yachts in one marina outside of France. The worry is that the main season starts here at Christmas and most of those charter yachts won't be in the marina anymore, but sharing the anchorages with us. Let's hope times are tough for the charter industry and they all stay put.
