We dropped the anchor here for the night so that we could have a quick get away in the morning with the shortest possible leg west. We spent quite a long time in Puerto Rico and on reflection I have to ask myself, Why?  

Well, we thought, and were told, that being American this was the last island in the Caribbean that we could get boat parts, provision, repair stuff etc. How wrong was that! We now know that PR has defaulted on its debts several times in the last year or so and it shows. They are broke. Not only are they broke, but we struggled to find anyone that actually wanted to earn anything. 

We read an article in one of our guides which stated that Puerto Ricans are consistently considered to be among the top 5 happiest nations on earth. I think if I lived here and took part in the survey I might bring the average down a bit.
