Menemsha is a delightful little fishing village that was also used quite a bit for the Jaws movie. The main produce here seems to be Lobster which neither of us are really that keen on. It seems really over rated to me, it isn't very tasty, it's a bit rubbery, and it's really hard work to get at to eat. Oh, and its bloody expensive!  I think that if it didn't look so exotic on the plate and wasn't so expensive, fewer people would actually eat it, it's all for show. That's my theory anyway. There was very little wind between Newport and here so we gave the spinnaker another go. Success!!!

This was an ideal opportunity for a rare outing for the bikes. We took them ashore in the dinghy and had a very pleasant cycle around this fairly flat island. We stopped for an ice cream at the local grocery/ sandwich shop/ community centre type of place, and whilst reading the notices pinned up on the notice board that there were a lot of talented people called 'Taylor' performing in various church halls and pubs on this tiny island. I asked a local if Taylor was a common name on the island for some reason or is there a really talented family. It was the latter. James Taylor has a place here and the various performers are his son, daughter, cousins etc.

Proof of spinnaker flying successfully.

Table for two....sort of. Fish supper straight from the the fisherman's hut

This caught our eye

Very smart Coast Guard Station. Why it is so grand I'm not sure, but I liked it.
