Title: 20 12N 65 10W Getting closer

Wednesday 18th December
We are now roughly 110 nm miles away from the first waypoint, ETA 20 hours if we maintain speed, so we expect to be close to St John shortly afterwards. Once we reach the waypoint it shouldn't take too long to manoeuvre into and anchorage via the tiny islands and reefs. We are aiming for Francis bay, we have been there before, its a well protected national park area with mooring buoys. As we are pretty tired the plan is to just sleep for a couple of days before checking in at Cruz Bay customs. So all being well we should be in Francis Bay by Thursday morning. We crossed through into a squall line which played havoc with our sail setup and direction, squalls are very mean to us, they scare the living daylights out of me. Most of this trip we have been able to speak via our SSB radio with fellow cruisers dotted all over the place, some in the Bahamas, some in Bermuda, some in Jamaica and others waiting in St John. Its good to have some other humans to talk to if only for a few minutes to check progress and conditions. We haven't actually seen another vessel the whole way but we can see cargo or cruise ships with our AIS system. At least if they come too close we can try and stop them running us down. We haven't seen any wildlife but one night we had some pretty big dolphins stay with us for about 1/2 an hour. Thats all for now I will post again when its calm enough to do so and I don't have to hold the computer down and try and type at the same time.
